Daniela, originally from Quito, Ecuador, moved to Worcester, MA during high school. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from WPI. After a brief time in industry post-graduation, Daniela pursued a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at Columbia University, completing it in 2023 under Dr. Daniel Esposito’s guidance. Her research focused on advancing brine electrolysis, specifically designing membraneless electrolyzers that enable operation in the presence of impurities. She also developed hybrid methods tocoat high-surface electrodes to improve performance, selectivity, and resistance to impurities.
